About The Postcards

Conceived as a series of postcards representing a handful of notable UK Export Finance deals, these artifacts bring together found imagery edited to form a photo montage, and re-appropriated campaign logos. Taken from vintage postcards depicting quintessential English landscapes, the images encapsulate an idyllic notion that persists in visual culture and connects people through a sense of nostalgia. Placed within these images are photographs of UKEF backed installations, prompting the viewer to ask were these same projects UK based, would they find backing, and contemplate what risks these environments are under. The two altered campaign logos from the “GREAT” campaign “Exporting Is GREAT” and “A World of Opportunity Awaits” give an indication of how the government view these fossil fuel projects, combined with the textual information, these provoke the viewer to consider should these really be seen as an opportunity, and at what cost?
